The UFF and the QFA sign a memorandum of collaboration in Doha

Doha: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) and the Uzbekistan Football Federation (UFF) signed a memorandum of collaboration on Wednesday in QFA’s headquarters located in Al Bidda Tower, reports QFA official website.

The agreement, which focuses on areas of cooperation between the two parties, was signed by Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of the QFA and Umid Ahmadjonov, President of the UFF.

The signing ceremony was also attended by Saoud Al Mohannadi, Vice President of the QFA, Mansoor Al Ansari, General Secretary of the QFA.

The upcoming period will witness the establishment of a joint working group which will study the legal frameworks in detail in order to activate the agreement. A plan of action will also be prepared, which will include a report on the most important achievements, schedule of activities and events that will bring together the two associations in the coming period.

The purpose of this agreement is for both associations to invest in the brotherly and bilateral relations between the two countries and further explore areas of interest between them.

The memorandum signed will see both federations share expertise and experiences in the areas of training of technical personnel, sports science, and sports medicine.

Additionally, the memorandum will also focus on exchanges of information and technical material to serve the development of football in both countries which acts as a milestone aimed at facilitating the growth and development of football in Qatar and Uzbekistan.

The establishment of training camps and benefitting from the exceptional expertise of Aspire Academy and Aspetar will also be an aspect of the agreement.

Commenting on the occasion, President of the UFF, Umid Ahmadjonov said: “I am very happy to be here in Qatar and thank Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of the QFA for the warm welcome. This is not strange to Qatar and its people. I am also happy to sign this memorandum of collaboration between the UFF and QFA, and I hope our fruitful collaboration will continue further in the next period.”

He added: “The agreement is an extension of our existing bilateral relations as we have a longstanding history of joint work, and this agreement will undoubtedly have a great impact in strengthening the relations between us and the QFA. Qatar has great sports infrastructure and facilities, and it is a pioneer in this field. I am proud of what I saw at during my visit at Aspire, which is a sign that this cooperation will develop our football at all levels.”

He also said: “I have also seen the tremendous preparations undertaken for hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™, and I am confident that Qatar will organise a unique tournament, which is a great honor to all of us as Qatar represents Asia.”

Other key areas covered by the agreement include transfer of knowledge at the technical and administrative level of both associations and attention will be given to the exchange of expertise on the use of technical experts, coaches and referees through organizing different workshops, training camps, and seminars.
