Uzbekistan have booked their place in AFC U-20 Futsal Championship Quarter-Finals
Uzbekistan sealed top spot in Group C of the AFC U-20 Futsal Championship on Saturday after a commanding 7-4 win over Qatar.
The win saw Uzbekistan edge Lebanon for pole position thanks to their superior goal difference and set up a clash with Group D runners-up Mongolia in the quarter-finals on Monday.
Akbar Usmonov opened the scoring for Uzbekistan just three minutes into the game, before the Central Asians extended their lead with goals in quick succession from Khushnur Erkinov, Bortirbek Rizaev and Ravshan Ismatullaev. The Qataris went into the break with a glimmer of hope, however, thanks to Ahmed Al Jalham’s penalty which reduced the deficit on the stroke of half-time.
The prolific Usmonov added three more goals to his tally after the restart, while a late Qatar revival saw Abdulla Guleid’s strike and a brace from Hamad Al Hashemi briefly threaten a comeback that was ultimately not to be as Uzbekistan went top of the Group C standings.
