FC AGMK advance to 2019 AFC Futsal Club Championship semifinals

AGMK's reward is a semi-final against defending champions Mes Sungun Varzeqan, with the Islamic Republic of Iran side having defeated Lebanon's Bank of Beirut 3-2 in their quarter-final earlier on Wednesday.

Backed by their fans, Port FC started brightly but as the match wore on, the home side could not match AGMK’s speed and agility and the Central Asians opened their account in the third minute when Davron Choriev dribbled past two defenders before finishing from close range.

Port FC had their first attempt five minutes later but Watchara Laisri only managed a tame shot which didn't trouble AGMK goalkeeper Rustam Umarov.

AGMK came close to increasing their advantage in the 10th minute when Anaskhon Rakhmatov broke through the Port FC defence but his effort was denied by the bar.

The Uzbekistan club kept the home side pressed deep with Port FC goalkeeper Kanison Phoopun making two brilliant saves, the first from Khusniddin Nishonov’s close range effort and then the rebound from Ilkhomjon Khamroev from outside the box.

Port FC suffered another scare in the 13th minute when Kanison strayed off his line but Choriev blasted his effort over the bar.

Port FC had chances to equalise with Umarov saving Muhammad Osamanmusa’s effort from above the arc, while Marcos Vinicius twice hit the woodwork two minutes apart as AGMK took a 1-0 lead into the break.

AGMK played with the same intensity in the second half and doubled their advantage in the 26th minute through Khamroev’s header from inside the box.

In what would have been a superb team goal, Port FC came close to reducing the deficit three minutes later but Thananchai Chomboon smashed his effort against the post.

There was more misery for Port FC as Ikhtiyor Ropiev found an unmarked Akbar Usmonov, who made no mistake to score with a simple tap in.

Port FC refused to give up and Osamanmusa pulled one back for them to set up a frantic finish with Choriev replying to make it 4-1 in favour of AGMK.

The home team, however, kept coming and Osamanmusa had the fans off their seats with two more quick goals but in the end, AGMK were not to be denied their historical appearance in the semi-finals.
