Uzbek athletes start IBSA Judo Asian and Oceanian Championships with 5 medals in Atyrau

Uzbek athletes started their participation along with 100 judokas for titles and the chance to improve their place in the world rankings on the road to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

Uzbekistan’s Paralympic champion Sherzod Namozov kept his impeccable regional record as claimed a gold medal by beating all his opponents in men’s -60 kg.

In the men’s up to 73kg, Feruz Saidov of Uzbekistan has finished the IBSA Judo Asian and Oceanian Championships with a bronze medal.

In the women’s a series of the world’s best judoka, Sevinch Salaeva (-52 kg) and Parvina Samandarova (-57 kg) also grabbed a podium spot and earned two gold medals for Uzbekistan.

Uzbek para-athlete Lobar Khurramova made the move up from the up to 48kg where she secured a silver medal.

The 2019 IBSA Judo Asian and Oceanian Championships run until 8 September and feature individual and team events.
