Five Uzbek girls earned the gold medals in the Kolchin U22 Memorial Tournament

Five of the Uzbek girls as Gulasal Sultonalieva, Sitora Shagdarova, Dilfuza Bekova, Mokhinabonu Abdullaeva and Navbakhor Khamidova won the gold medals in Orsha.

China and Turkmenistan also sent a few boxers besides to the young Uzbek girls to the Kolchin U22 Memorial Tournament to Europe. The women’s flyweight (51kg), bantamweight (54kg), featherweight (57kg), lightweight (60kg), light welterweight (64kg) and welterweight (69kg) boxers had to box in the event on Day4 besides to the male athletes in Orsha.

Boxers who were born in 1999, 2000, 2001 and in 2002 were eligible to attend in the Kolchin U22 Memorial Tournament in Belarus. The competition was a preparation tournament before the main goals of the year and a perfect option for the younger generation to increase their international experiences against strong rivals.

National Champion Gulasal Sultonalieva moved up from the light flyweight (48kg) to the flyweight (51kg) and she is focusing to the next Olympic cycle. The 21-year-old boxer, who competed in the last two editions of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships, walked over to the gold medal in Orsha following her opponent, Belarus’ Darya Puyidak was unable to box against her on Day4.

Uzbekistan’s National Championships silver medallist Sitora Shagdarova changed her category and competed at the bantamweight (54kg) in the Kolchin U22 Memorial Tournament. The 20-year-old talent eliminated Belarus’ Olga Terekhova and another local boxer, Irina Vinogradova of Belarus during her road to the finals. Shagdarova gave in everything in the final against Karina Gadun and celebrated her gold medal.

Dilfuza Bekova and Ziyoda Yarashova eliminated their Belarusian opponents and advanced to the finals of the lightweight (60kg) which was a selection contest between the two young Uzbeks. Both achieved bronze medals at the Ulaanbaatar 2019 ASBC Asian Women’s Youth Boxing Championships 14 months ago. Bekova was slightly better in the exchanges and won their contest by split decision in Orsha.

Uzbekistan’s fourth gold medal was achieved by 18-year-old Mokhinabonu Abdullaeva who eliminated Vlada Bazylevich of Belarus in the semi-finals and continued her winning path against Viktoria Shashko at the light welterweight (64kg). She was also medallist in the Ulaanbaatar 2019 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships and joined to the U22 level with a gold medal in the Kolchin Memorial Tournament.

Uzbekistan’s strong welterweight (69kg) duo, 20-year-old Navbakhor Khamidova and her younger fellow Khadijabonu Abdullaeva both won their semi-final contests on Day2 in Orsha. Khamidova, who competed at the Budapest 2018 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships, moved down one category to compete in Orsha and she was too experienced for Abdullaeva in the second Uzbek finals of the event.
