Oybek Kasimov takes part in the ANOC General Assembly in Portugal
These days, the regular General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) is taking place in Cascais (Portugal). Oybek Kasimov, Secretary General of the ANOC, and Kamoliddin Ergashev, Director of the International Relations Department, are participating in the event on behalf of Uzbekistan.
The first day of the General Assembly analyzed important realities that have occurred in the Olympic world over the past two years, the work done within the framework of the Olympic Solidarity Program. President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach made a speech at the event and emphasized that the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games were organized at a high level. The report of the Organizing Committees on preparations for the Summer Youth Olympic Games Dakar-2026, Winter Olympic Games Milan-Cortina-2026 and Summer Olympic Games Los Angeles-2028 was also heard.
Within the framework of the event Oybek Omilovich met with Thomas Bach, as well as with such officials running for the post of IOC head as Prince Faisal Al-Husayn of Jordan, President of the International Cycling Union David Lapartien, President of the International Gymnastics Federation Morinari Watanabe and discussed new stages of mutual cooperation. There was also an exchange of views with the leadership of the NOC of Central Asian countries on a number of issues related to the development of the sphere in the region. During the conversation Oybek Kasimov told about the reforms carried out in our country under the leadership of the President, aimed at bringing the Olympic Movement to a new level, about preparations for the Asian Youth Games Tashkent-2025.
In addition, ANOC announced the laureates of the year and the athletes who were recognized worthy in their field were awarded. The General Assembly will conclude its work today.
