FC Nasaf finish their ACL2018 campaign with a 2-1 win over Al Wasl FC

Uzbekistan's FC Nasaf ended their 2018 AFC Champions League Group C campaign on a high note after coming back from a goal down to beat Al Wasl from the UAE 2-1 on Monday.

Both sides started with caution, with Al Wasl playing mostly restricted in the midfield until Fabio de Lima opened the scoring in the 33rd minute.

Captaining his side on the night, the Brazilian found space inside the box to convert Khalil Khamis' cross before driving it into the bottom right corner of Nasaf’s goal.

As Al Wasl thought they would head into the half-time break in front, they were caught napping as Sharof Mukhitdinov unleashed a thunderous strike with a half-volley from a narrow-angle to equalise for the Uzbek side in added time of the opening half.

The hosts' hopes of collecting their first win of the tournament were extinguished three minutes after the restart when Bobir Abdixolikov embarked on a solo run and beat goalkeeper Yousif Abdulla with a placed effort from the edge of the area to put Nasaf in front.

Al Wasl become the only side to exit the 2018 AFC Champions League with no points to their name after losing all six games, while Nasaf's ten points were not enough to carry them into the Round of 16 as they finish third in the group.
