Five Uzbek boxers advance to the semi-finals at the AIBA World Boxing Championships

Uzbekistan’s defending Olympic Games winner at the Flyweight (52kg) Shakhobiddin Zoirov returned to the category and impressed in each round of the preliminaries in Yekaterinburg. Zoirov faced Bulgarian Daniel Panev Asenov in quarterfinals as he was able to make beat his rival and earned a spot in semis.

Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov of Uzbekistan also advanced to the semi-finals following his success over Kazakhstan’s Kairat Yeraliyev at the Bantamweight (56 kg).

At the Welterweight (69 kg), Asia’s top hopes Uzbekistan’s Asian Games winner Bobo-Usmon Baturov dominated his fight against Jordan’s Rio 2016 Olympian Hussein Iashaish which means he reached the semi-finals.

Uzbekistan’s new 20-year-old sensation Dilshodbek Ruzmetov was amazing had a tough opponent against Azeri Loren Alfonso Dominguez, second-seeded, in the quarterfinals, but he was able to manage his success on the way to the semis at Light Heavyweight (81kg).

Asia’s two-time continental champion in this weight Uzbekistan’s Bakhodir Jalolov used his power as he knocked out American Richard Torrez in the first round and also marched to the semi-finals.
