Iranian and Uzbek players handed a one-match ban for a brawl
The Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) Disciplinary Committee came down hard on Iran women’s national football team player Zakhro Gambari and Uzbekistan women’s national football team player Rushaniya Safina following their involvement in a brawl at the end of Tuesday’s CAFA Women’s Championship.
Zakhro Ganbari and Rushaniya Safina were banned for one match and informed that a repeat violation of the CAFA Disciplinary and Ethics Code will be met with more severe punishment.
To be noted, Zakhro Ganbari opened the scoring for Iran from a penalty kick in the 29th minute of the game before Uzbekistan were awarded a penalty kick 10 minutes later at the National Stadium.
Feruza Turdiboeva converted a goal without a mistake and the game turned, while Ugiloy Kuchkorova led Uzbekistan in front two minutes to the break. After the restart, both sides couldn’t use chances to score goals as the score remained unchanged and Uzbekistan secured a 2-1 victory over Iran.
