Uzbekistan took the game to India but the South Asians defended well and the first half ended goalless.

India continued to sit back with the occassional counter-attack and their approach paid off in the 68th minute as Sridarth Nongmeikapam gave them a priceless lead.

Going behind meant Uzbekistan needed to score twice to seal the automatic spot from the group but the Central Asians were only able to find the back of the net once, with midfielder Rian Islamov drawing them level in the 81st minute.
