Rio Olympic champion Shakhobiddin Zoirov is out from competing for the gold medal, losing to Carlo Paalam of Philippines. The first round was scored in favour of Paalam. Doctor didn't allow to continue the fight after the head crash in the second. Paalam won the bout with a split decision of 4:0 to guarantee the Olympic bronze medal.
