Shakhram Giyasov wins tough fight over Emanuel Taylor

Shakhram Giyasov, the Uzbek junior welterweight prospect and 2016 Olympic silver medalist, just signed a co-promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing. There were some touchy moments early in his first outing under that deal, but Giyasov pulled through with a decision win over Emanuel Taylor.

Giyasov won the fight on scores of 97-93, 99-91, and 99-91, the wider cards certainly far too wide and not really telling the story of the fight at all. Bad Left Hook had the fight even, 95-95.

The 28-year-old Taylor hurt Giyasov (8-0, 6 KO) in the first and again in the fourth. Giyasov was able to hold on both times and survive the rounds, and got in some mugging, to boot.
