Uzbekistan traveled Azadi Stadium for their Asian Qualifiers match against I.R. Iran in Tehran this evening. The hosts created many chances, but the only attack became a goal when Sardar Azmoun opened the scoring in the 23rd minute by giving his side extra effort ahead of the next period.

It was Iran side, who earned a penalty kick when Akmal Shorakhmedov stopped Mehdi Taremi by his hand and the referee from Oman showed the 12-yard penalty spot. However, Masud Shojai failed to turn this free kick into the net before Mehdi Taremi doubled the lead two minutes before the final whistle.
