Dostonbek Khamdamov hopes U-23 Uzbekistan keep their hegemony in Asia

Head coach Ravshan Khaydarov had to make a minor change in the final squad of Uzbekistan after a youngster Aziz Ganiev suffered an injury in the Uzbekistan Super League match.

Russian Premier League club FC Anji player Dostonbek Khamdamov replaced Aziz Ganiev in Uzbekistan’s 20-man squad.

Dostonbek Khamdamov talked to the media before Uzbekistan delegation’s departure to Jakarta.

“We prepared for the Asian Games well enough as we already started preparations after AFC U-23 Championship. I hope we stay as the hegemons of Asia achieving Asian Games title in Indonesia.”

“Of course, I had problems to get a permission from my club, FC Anzhi Makhachkala since Asian Games is not being organized according to the FIFA calendar. However, they understood the situation and permitted me to represent Uzbekistan.”
