
Uzbekistan become the winner of the M-150 Cup International Tournament
Uzbekistan’s under-23s national football team gained the championship of the M-150 Cup International Football Tournament in Buriram, Thailand on Friday.
At the closing minutes of the first period, Uzbekistan opened the scoring from a quick counter-attack. Aziz Ganiev shot hard to beat the keeper Obinna Obi, but the ball fell right in front of the line before Zabikhillo Urinboev easily kicked the ball into the empty net to break the deadlock.
The Japanese side needed only one minute to cancel out the opening goal as they put the sides on the level from the free kick, Yuta Kamiya captained the goalkeeper to free Botir Ergashev in the first-half stoppage time.
In the second half, Uzbekistan showed an attacking piece of football as they took the lead in the 75-minute mark from Doniyor Narzullaev's cross was a good chance for Zabikhillo Urinboev to head home Obinna Obi.
Then, Japan attacked the main force and striker Yuki Ueda headed the equalizer for U23 Japan, after missing four in the game.
In the penalty shootout, two Japanese players broke down, leaving their opponents and Uzbekistan earned a 4-3 win as they celebrated the championship.
