Alisher Usmanov was re-elected President of the International Fencing Federation

The main issue on the agenda was the election of the head of the organization for the new Olympic cycle. The congress was supposed to take place a year ago, but was postponed due to the pandemic. The current head of FIE, Alisher Usmanov, was the only candidate for the presidency. The delegates of the Congress voted unanimously for Usmanov, who has been in office since 2008. Earlier, Alisher Burkhanovich was re-elected in 2012 and 2016.

It is gratifying that following the results of the elections, our compatriots also joined the divisions of the International Organization. In particular, the Secretary General of the Fencing Federation of Uzbekistan Gulnara Saidova was included in the Propaganda Committee, and Aida Khasanova, who was a referee at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, was included in the judging committee.

During the event, a presentation of the city of Tashkent, a candidate for hosting the 2023 World Cup, was presented. The presentation was held by the Chairman of the NOC of Uzbekistan and the Fencing Federation of Uzbekistan Rustam Shaabdurakhmanov and Gulnara Saidova. Despite the fact that it aroused great interest among many, Milan eventually became the host of the upcoming world championship.
