FC Kizilkum sign a six-month deal with Aussie Steven Lustica

Former A-League midfielder Steven Lustica has left Croatia and signed for Uzbekistan Super League club FC Kizilkum, reports FTBL.

Lustica spent last season at Inter Zapresic in the Prva HNL, after departing Western Sydney Wanderers last year. He made just seven first-team appearances for the Croatian outfit.

But now the 28-year-old has landed in Uzbekistan, after knocking back offers in Indonesia.

FTBL understands the ex-Wanderers, Brisbane Roar and Adelaide United man is keen to establish himself in Asia.

Lustica has signed a short-term six-month deal with Uzbek side, which puts him in the shop window for leagues in Japan, Korea and the Middle East.

Canberra-born, the central midfielder won National Youth League (NYL) championships and premierships with both Sydney FC and Gold Coast United, and was named NYL Player of the Season in 2011.

He broke into the A-League with Gold Coast in 2009 and earned 21 caps for the Young Socceroos. Lustica was also part of the Roar side that did the A-League double in 2014.
