Jakhongir Zokirov outclassed their tough rivals at the Adriatic Pearl Youth Tournament

The women’s flyweight (51kg), lightweight (60kg) and welterweight (69kg) boxers were in action in the second day of boxing. The men boxers competed at the flyweight (52kg), welterweight (69kg), middleweight (75kg), heavyweight (91kg) and at the super heavyweight (+91kg) on Day2. Powerful nations as Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, India, Georgia and Bulgaria are all attending at the Adriatic Pearl Youth Tournament.

The Adriatic Pearl Youth Tournament is a preparation event for the upcoming AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships which will be held in Kielce, Poland on April 10-24. Boxers who were born in 2002 and in 2003 are able to attend in the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships therefore the local organizers in Budva decided to schedule the Adriatic Pearl Youth Tournament for the same age group.

The best Indian female and male boxers are there in the Adriatic Pearl Youth Tournament with great expectations. Head coach of the Uzbek team Mr. Hamid Tangribergenov selected eight women and fourteen youth male boxers following the training camps. Uzbekistan’s 22-strong team will be chasing for the medals and titles of the first edition of the Adriatic Pearl Youth Tournament in Montenegro.

Uzbekistan’s welterweight (69kg) Youth National Champion Sirajatdin Khojakhmetov had a tough opponent in the second day of boxing, Russia’s EUBC European Youth Boxing Championships silver medallist Chezrav Ashalayev. The 18-year-old Uzbek boxer opened his campaign successfully on Day1 and he produced a great second bout in Montenegro. Khojakhmetov landed more punches than his Russian opponent and won their top quarter-final contest by split decision (4:1).

ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships silver medallist Amirshokh Samadov had to meet with an Asian rival, India’s Vishal Gupta but he controlled that heavyweight (91kg) contest in Montenegro. Uzbekistan’s next great success was achieved by ASBC Asian Junior Champion Jakhongir Zokirov who has done revenge to Russia’s Ivan Onishchenko due to his previous loss. Uzbekistan’s ASBC Asian Women’s Junior Champion Feruza Kazakova also eliminated her Ukrainian rival at the flyweight (51kg). India’s Naorem Babyrojisana Chanu was gold medallist at the Ulaanbaatar 2019 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships and she needed less than one round to stop Bulgaria’s Blagovesta Georgieva at the flyweight (51kg). India’s next female sensation, Vinka also won her opening contest by RSC, following her clear dominancy over Uzbekistan’s Sevara Ashurova at the lightweight (60kg). India’s third success on Day2 was delivered by Arundhati Choudhary who eliminated Finland’s best youth hope, Eveliina Taimi.
