Defending champions Uzbekistan were held to a 1-1 draw by the tournament hosts thanks to a late equaliser from Tajikistan’s Aini Alijoni on Matchday One of the CAFA U-16 Championship in Tajikistan on Friday.
Azamat Abduraimov’s Uzbekistan side led at half-time thanks to a 28th-minute goal from Pakhtakor forward Rustam Turimurodov, but Tajikistan wouldn’t be denied as Alijoni delivered the equaliser 11 minutes before full-time to earn a point in Dushanbe.
