Matchday One #ACL2020: The Week In Numbers

With 32 goals in 12 games, including a resounding win for a tournament debutant and a heavy loss for a side on a miserable run, join the-AFC.com takes a look at the facts and figures that caught the eye in the first week in numbers of the new campaign.

24 – Theerathon Bunmathan (left) delivered more passes into the final third than any other player on Matchday One as Yokohama F. Marinos beat Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors 2-1.

6 – Of the 24 teams in action, Al Duhail had the fewest touches in the opposition penalty area yet scored twice to win 2-0 against Persepolis. 

5 –Vissel Kobe's 5-1 victory over Johor Darul Ta'zim was the biggest opening-day win for a debutant since Guangzhou Evergrande defeated Jeonbuk by the same score in 2012.

119 – The weekly high number of touches by Esteghlal's Ali Karimi, whose 93 successful passes against Al Shorta was also a Matchday high. 

7 – FC Tokyo's Leandro created the highest number of chances in the opening round of fixtures, while he also set up his side's goal in the 1-1 draw against Ulsan Hyundai. 

9 – Al Ain's winless run in the competition stands at nine games after the 4-0 loss to Sepahan.

12 – Yokohama have never been beyond the AFC Champions League group stage yet, incredibly, have now won 12 of their 19 games.

9 – Al Hilal forward Sebastian Giovinco had a weekly high nine shots against Shahr Khodro, six of which were from outside the box.
