Stars advanced to the male finals at the Uzbekistan Elite National Championships in Tashkent

Several of the dream finals have been realized after the crucial semi-finals in the national event. One of the best fights to be expected between Abdumalik Khalakov and Shunkor Abdurasulov at the lightweight (60kg) but Tursunov vs. Saidrakhimov could be also a superb final in Tashkent.

The number of the boxers is more than 300 in the Uzbekistan Elite National Championships including 85 female and 248 male boxers in Tashkent. The figures are less than the average from the previous years which is the effect of the pandemic. The most popular categories in the national event are the men’s lightweight (60kg) and men’s light welterweight (63kg) where the number of participating boxers are more than 40.

Boxers who were born between 1980 and 2003 are eligible to attend in the Uzbekistan Elite National Championships where the venue is the Universal Sport Complex in Tashkent. Altogether 20 champions including ten female boxers will be crowned in the Uzbekistan Elite National Championships.

Uzbekistan’s defending AIBA World Champion, ASBC Asian Champion and Asian Games winner Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov had a strong opponent in the semi-finals of the featherweight (57kg), former National Champion Hasanboy Latibakhunov. The 25-year-old boxer has qualified already to the Tokyo Olympic Games and used up all of his experiences to beat his rival. Mirzakhalilov will be meeting for the title with 19-year-old Khurshidbek Rasuljonov in the final of the category.

The dream final has been realized at the lightweight (60kg) where Youth Olympic Champion Abdumalik Khalakov will be boxing for the gold medal with Asian Games silver medallist Shunkor Abdurasulov. The next top final will be held between former AIBA Junior World Champion Aliyor Noraliyev and multiple international youth tournament winner Asadkhudja Muydinkhodjayev at the light welterweight (63kg). Both eliminated star rivals in the semi-finals, Zolotarev Memorial Tournament winner Mujibullo Tursunov and Boburmirzo Tolibov.

Another Asian Games winner and Tokyo Olympian boxer Bobo-Usmon Baturov managed to win his semi-finals and will be meeting for the gold medal of the welterweight (69kg) with ASBC Asian Junior Champion 19-year-old Javlonbek Yuldashev. The middleweight (75kg) delivered also sensational battles in the semi-finals and finally Odiljon Aslonov and Saidjamshid Jafarov remained their gold medal chances alive after the semi-finals.

AIBA World Boxing Championships silver medallist Dilshodbek Ruzmetov has the strong motivation since he could not qualify to the Tokyo Olympic Games in Amman. The 21-year-old boxer advanced to the final of the light heavyweight (81kg) with strong performance following his success. Ruzmetov will be meeting for the gold medal with a new sensation, Ferghana’s Temurkhon Soburov who had several surprises in the event.

AIBA World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Sanjar Tursunov bowed out Ferghana’s former ASBC Asian Youth Champion Obidjon Tokhirov and will be facing for the gold medal of the heavyweight (91kg) with his main national rival, World Military Games winner Madiyar Saidrakhimov. The top favourite of the super heavyweight (+91kg) Lazizbek Mullajanov can win his next title against ASBC Asian Junior Champion 17-year-old Jakhongir Zokirov.
