Tokyo Olympians as Rakhimova, Mirzakhalilov and Baturov won their first contests in the Uzbekistan Elite National Championships

Youth Olympic Champion Abdumalik Khalakov and Uzbekistan’s Tokyo Olympians as Tursunoy Rakhimova, Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov and Bobo-Usmon Baturov controlled their contests on Day3.

The number of boxers is more than 300 in the Uzbekistan Elite National Championships including 85 female and 248 male boxers in Tashkent. The most popular categories in the national event are the men’s lightweight (60kg) and men’s light welterweight (63kg) where the number of participating boxers are more than 40.

Boxers who were born between 1980 and 2003 are eligible to attend the Uzbekistan Elite National Championships where the venue is the Universal Sport Complex in Tashkent. Altogether 20 champions including ten female boxers will be crowned in the Uzbekistan Elite National Championships.

The women boxers competed first in the second day of boxing in the Uzbekistan Elite National Championships in Tashkent. Further female bouts were held in the third day when their teenage talents as ASBC Asian Junior Champion Feruza Kazakova and 18-year-old Sitora Turdibekova won their contests. Their Olympian girls as Tursunoy Rakhimova and Yodgoroy Mirzaeva both eliminated their rivals easily. Sitora Shagdarova won the female bout of the day following her narrow success over Khursandoy Kholmatova.

Uzbekistan’s defending AIBA World Champion at the featherweight (57kg) Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov has been preparing to the Tokyo Olympic Games to where he already got the quota place. The ASBC Asian Champion boxer met in the second preliminary round with Andizhan’s Shamshirbek Mirzabekov and he was able to keep the same rhythm until the end of the bout winning it unanimously.

Tashkent region’s Youth Olympic Games winner and AIBA Youth World Champion Abdumalik Khalakov proved his famous style, his summersaults after his success over a veteran boxer, Bunyodjon Akhmedov of Ferghana in his debuting contest at the lightweight (60kg). Another top talent of this weight class, Zolotarev Memorial Tournament winner Aydos Tagaybayev also opened his participation in style.

Shunkor Abdurasulov achieved silver medal at the lightweight (60kg) in the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games at the age of 20. He is a strong hope for Uzbekistan but he had to miss the Tokyo Olympic Games following Elnur Abduraimov has already qualified for the multisport event. Abdurasulov had to do his very best on Day3 but finally he was able to bow out Bekzod Khamidov of Bukhara. Another boxer from Bukhara, ASBC Asian Boxing Championships bronze medallist Shukurjon Rakhimov also won his first fight in Tashkent triumphing over Abdulaziz Odilov.

Bobo-Usmon Baturov won the Islamic Solidarity Games in 2017, and became the No.1 of the welterweight (69kg) when Shakhram Giyasov turned to professional. The Asian Games winner and ASBC Asian Champion boxer has already qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games and he has been preparing with full speed to the event. The 26-year-old boxer had a few difficulties against Mukhsinbek Koraboyev but he managed to win that contest.
