Two of our wrestlers will go to the carpet for the bronze medal

Our Greco-Roman wrestlers Aram Vardanyan (-77 kg) and Rustam Assakalov (-97 kg) will continue to fight for Paris-2024 medals. Our compatriot Aram Vardanyan lost to Japanese Kusaka Nao in the quarterfinals. The Japanese athlete, who went to the semi-finals, defeated the representative of Armenia at this stage and went to the final. Thus, our wrestler Aram Vardanyan had a chance to win a bronze medal. Also, another wrestler of ours, Rustam Assakalov, lost his chance to Armenian representative Artur Aleksanyan in the quarter finals. But Artur defeated his opponent in the semi-final and qualified for the final, giving our compatriot Rustam Assakalov a chance to go to the mat for the bronze medal.

Competitors who defeated our compatriots in the quarter-finals received a ticket to the finals. Thus, both of our wrestlers will go to the mat tomorrow in the transition stage for the bronze medal. Their opponents in the transition stage:

-77 kg: Aram Vardanyan - Abdelkrim Oukali (Algeria)
-97 kg: Rustam Assakalov - Seong Jun Kim (Republic of Korea)
