Kazakhstan’s Rustam Rustamov caused the biggest sensation with his gold in the men’s part of the event. Kyzaibay defeated his top national rival Shekerbekova before 19-year-old Nadezhda Ryabets won her first elite tournament gold.

Uzbekistan’s 9-man and 3-woman squad attended in the Republic of Kazakhstan President’s Cup in Nur-Sultan along with the athletes from Algeria, Bulgaria, China, Georgia, India, host Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Philippines, Russia, Syria and Tajikistan.

However, seven Uzbek boxers had to stop their participation in President’s Cup as all of them were defeated by Kazakhstan’s and Russian boxers.
