Uzbek government adopts the resolution on hosting 2025 Asian Youth Games

Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan has adopted the Resolution "on measures to prepare for the IV Asian Youth Games in Uzbekistan in 2025" on August 7, 2020.

Uzbekistan’s capital and largest city Tashkent will be welcoming the young participants of the Asian Youth Games in 2025. Tashkent hosted previously many sport competitions including the 2017 ASBC Asian Men’s Elite Boxing Championships.

The Asian Youth Games holds every four years and the second largest multisport event after the Asian Games in our continent. Singapore hosted the first Asian Youth Games in 2009 while Nanjing organized the second edition in 2013. Both cities hosted the Youth Olympic Games next year in 2010 and in 2014 and the Asian Youth Games were their preparation for the Olympiad.

The 2017 edition of the Asian Youth Games was originally awarded to Sri Lanka’s Hambantota then to Indonesia’s Jakarta but due to many unexpected reasons it was cancelled by the Olympic Council of Asia.

A Chinese city Shantou will be hosting the 2021 Asian Youth Games following the decision of the Olympic Council of Asia in their General Assembly in 2019. The date of the Shantou event is November 20-28 in 2021 and 18 sports have been involved to the official program of the Asian Youth Games.

Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev is the President of the state of Uzbekistan who fully supports the sports in the Central Asian country and the organization of the 2025 Asian Youth Games. The President of the Uzbekistan National Olympic Committee Mr. Rustam Shaaburakhmonov and the Uzbekistan’s Minister of Sports Mr. Dilmurod Nabiev worked hard for the success of the bidding process.

The official schedule and program of the 2025 Asian Youth Games did not finalize yet but the new edition will be bigger than ever. The 2025 Asian Youth Games will be held among athletes at the age of 14-17 and at least 40 countries are expected to take part in Tashkent.
