Uzbekistan 2022: Know Your Host Cities & Stadiums

Tashkent: The AFC U23 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2022™ kicks off on June 1 with 16 teams vying for the prestigious title.

TASHKENT
Capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent is a modern metropolis and home to over 2 million residents. With 2,200 years of history, it is filled with historical monuments, modern mosques and oriental bazaars to keep tourists captivated from day to night. 
Bunyodkor Stadium
Capacity: 34,000
Opening fixture: Islamic Republic of Iran v Qatar (June 1)
Bunyodkor is home to five-time Uzbek Super League champions FC Bunyodkor and is also regularly used by the Uzbekistan national team. 

Nine matches will be played at the stadium, including the final.  

Lokomotiv Stadium
Capacity: 6,500
Opening fixture: Korea Republic v Malaysia (June 2)
Lokomotiv Stadium is a relatively new stadium located at the far East side of the capital city. Home to PFC Lokomotiv, the stadium hosted the centralised AFC Champions League™ 2021 Group I matches. 

Seven group stage matches and one quarter-final will be played at Lokomotiv Stadium.

Pakhtakor Stadium
Capacity: 35,000
Opening fixture: Uzbekistan v Turkmenistan (June 1)
Located at the heart of Tashent, Pakhtakor Stadium is one of the oldest stadiums in Uzbekistan. As the name suggests, it serves as the home base for 14-time Super League champions FC Pakhtakor, as well as the Uzbekistan national team. 

Pakhtakor Stadium will be swamped with home supporters on June 1 when 2018 champions Uzbekistan kick off their 2022 campaign against Central Asian rivals Turkmenistan. The stadium will host nine matches, including the third-place playoff on June 18. 

QARSHI
Located southwest of Tashkent, Qarshi is the administrative centre of the Kashkadarya region. Qarshi, one of the world’s most ancient cities, is home to many historical attractions that continue to captivate visitors and history enthusiasts. 
Markaziy Stadium
Capacity: 15,500
Opening fixture: Australia v Kuwait (June 1)
Placed smack in the middle of Qarshi, Markaziy Stadium is home to FC Nasaf. Fans of the Dragons will never forget their 2011 AFC Cup™  triumph, which saw them beat Kuwait SC to lift the title. 

Markaziy Stadium will host six group stage matches - two a day - on June 1, 4 and 7.
