FC AGMK receive a stunning defeat from Saudi Al Nassr in their debut in AFC Champions League

The debutants from Uzbekistan had two clear-cut chances in an otherwise compact first half at Prince Faisal bin Fahad Stadium in the Saudi capital. Jasur Khasanov attempted to catch Al Nassr goalkeeper Brad Jones off guard, but his lobbed attempt missed the target.

The home crowd were sent into raptures as Al Nassr skipper Hawsawi finally broke the deadlock 10 minutes after the restart. The defender met Guiliano’s out-swinging cross from a corner-kick with a header that bounced off the ground and into the back of the net to make it 1-0.

It was a night for defenders and this time it was right-back Sultan Al Ghannam who added his name to the scoresheet in the 63rd minute. The 24-year-old exchanged a one-two with Firas Al Biraikan before rifling in with his weaker left-foot into the top corner to double Al Nassr’s lead.

AGMK’s defence fell apart, conceding for a third time just 10 minutes before the final whistle. Defensive midfielder Abdullah Al Khaibari recovered the ball deep in the opposition half and Giuliano finished the job as the Brazilian midfielder carried the ball centrally and drove in an effort from 30 yards out that nestled into the bottom corner.

There was still time for the Saudi team to add another. Giuliano made it two strikes on the night in added time, poking home after substitute Abdulrahman Al Dossari supplied the through pass.
