Hasanboy Dusmatov makes his debut with a KO win over Mexico’s Jesus Cervantes
The 2016 Olympic Gold medalist from Uzbekistan picked up his first win, scoring a 2nd round knockout of Mexico’s Jesus Cervantes in their junior flyweight bout Saturday evening in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
Aggressively matched in an eight-rounder for his first start, Dusmatov—who now trains out of Indio, California—looked to make a statement from the opening bell. Left hands landed frequently and with conviction, with Cervantes spending the brief affair fighting in reverse.
The fight came to a sudden end in round two, when Dusmatov ripped a left-hand body shot which hit Cervantes (9-8, 5KO) on the sweet spot and caused him to roll over in agony on the canvas.
