AFC U23 Championship Quarter-finals: Players to watch

Having survived a tough group campaign, the teams will be aiming to move one step closer to realising their dream of lifting the trophy and sealing berths in the Olympics.

United Arab Emirates vs Uzbekistan

Zayed Alameri (UAE)

Two of the UAE’s three goals in the group stage were scored by one man; striker Zayed Al Ameri. The 23-year-old’s performances in Thailand 2020 so far have cemented his status as the UAE’s brightest attacking prospect. At club level, Al Ameri is an understudy to the country’s all-time top scorer Ali Mabkhout at Al Jazira where he came through the ranks.

Aziz Ganiev (UZB)

One of the first name's on Ljubinko Drulovic's team sheet. Ganiev is Uzbekistan's deep-lying organiser, and the man who sets the tone for the rest of the side from the heart of midfield. Capped at senior level as a 19-year-old, Ganiev possesses a passing vision beyond his years, as well as a powerful shot that makes him a threat from any distance.
