
Uzbekistan's Sanjar Tursunov wins Jeffry Gonzales from Nicaragua by unanimous decision
2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships was launched in Hamburg, Germany on Friday, while the total number of the boxers is 243 from 75 nations and among them, 57 Asian competitors started to struggle for the medals in Hamburg from 15 countries from our continent.
In the first day of the competition, Uzbekistan’s Sanjar Tursunov squared off against Jeffry Gonzales from Nicaragua in Preliminaries as Uzbek boxer won the bout by unanimous decision at the Heavyweight yesterday evening.
He will face Argentinean Yamil Peralta Jara in the last bout of the Preliminaries in order to secure a spot in the Quarterfinals.
Today Uzbekistan’s Jasurbek Latipov will contest with Yankiel Rivera Figueroa from Puerto Rico at the Flyweight in the Preliminaries.
Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are competing with the maximum number of 10 boxers in the Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships from the Asian countries. India sent eight boxers while China and South Korea both are in Germany with five hopefuls. Chinese Taipei, Japan, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan are the further participating Asian nations in Hamburg.
