Uzbek weightlifters leave for the 2019 Asian Weightlifting Championships
Uzbekistan's six athletes left for the upcoming competition, which will double as a qualifying event for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
2018 World Weightlifting Championship medallist, 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games champion Rustam Djangabaev has to miss the 2019 Asian Weightlifting Championships after he was provisionally suspended in view of a potential anti-doping rule violation after as International Weightlifting Federation announced his sample returned an Adverse Analytical Finding for Growth Hormone (hGH) (S2. Peptide Hormones, Growth Factors, Related Substances and Mimetics).
The Championships are the most prestigious event on Asia's weightlifting calendar. It is also a gold-tier Olympic qualifying event, providing athletes with bonus points. 467 participants from 29 countries and regions, including China, Japan, South Korea, India, Iran and the DPRK have registered at the competition.
