Uzbekistan Super League referee banned for several years

The Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA) yesterday banned referee Jasur Mukhtorov for five years for his central role in the country's biggest match-rigging scandal in over 30 years.

Jasur Mukhtorov has admitted fixing and attempting to fix a series of matches in the 2020 Uzbekistan Super League. The UFA this week also dropped a call for a UZS 90,000,000 fine ($90,000) for Mukhtorov.

Referee Temur Tukhtasinov has been banned until the 2021 Season and fined 10,000,000 UZS ($10,000) for manipulating football matches.

AFC Referee Academy student, Asker Najafaliev has been also banned for a month and fined for 70,000,000 UZS ($70,000).

The DFB also announced yesterday a twelve-month ban for several referees for not reporting an approach from Jasur Mukhtorov, Temur Tukhtasinov, Asker Najafaliev quickly enough to authorities.
