Lazizbek Mullojonov: My goal is to win the Olympics and the world championship ...
As you know, Uzbek boxers successfully participated in the Strandja tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria, and won first place in the medal standings by countries. Lazizbek Mullojonov, who took part in this competition in the weight category of +92 kg, also won a gold medal, defeating all rivals. After the tournament, we contacted the boxer and got answers to several questions for SPORTS.uz.
- What are your impressions of the Strandje tournament?
- We are very impressed with the tournament. This competition is recognized as an unofficial world championship. It was a great experience for me.
- It is obvious that this time you are in excellent physical condition than the World Championships. Have you worked specifically on this?
- Yes, I felt better in this tournament than in the World Championships in Serbia. However, it is not the same as a military boxing world championship. After the defeat, I am recovering well. Before going to the World Championship which was held in Serbia, I was ill in the last training session. There was no time for treatment, and it caused a loss in my fight, and I think I lost the World Championship in Serbia.
- How important do you think your amateur boxing is for you? By the way, Bakhodir Jalolov is still number one until Paris 2024 Olympics?
- God willing, I intend to go to Paris Olympic Games, but Jalolov is the number one. I think that before the next Olympics, the Asian Championships and the Asian Games will give us a chance if we can prove ourselves.
- Maybe the main focus should be on professional boxing?
- To be honest, I do not want to pay much attention to professional boxing. My goal is to become an Olympic and world champion in amateur boxing.
For information, 22-year-old Mullojonov is the Asian champion among youth, Military World Boxing Championship winner, a two-time champion of Uzbekistan, and the winner of several major tournaments.
