Uzbek boxers earn ten medals at the International Boxing Tournament St. Petersburg Governor’s Cup

A full squad of Uzbekistan claimed medals at the International Boxing Tournament St. Petersburg Governor’s Cup at the Zimniy Stadium this evening.

Hasanboy Dusmatov started final bouts with a defeat to Russian Bator Sagaluev by a split decision and gained a silver medal at the Light Flyweight.

Uzbekistan’s two boxers had to fight for a gold medal in the final bout, while Shahobiddin Zoirov was defeated by his compatriot Miraziz Mirzahalilov at the Bantamweight.

However, Al'bert Batyrgaziev of Russia took no chance to Uzbek boxer Shunkor Abdurasulov and claimed a gold-medal victory by winning points at the Lightweight.

At the Middleweight, Asian champion Israil Madrimov contested with Russian Gleb Bakshi in the finals and awarded a gold medal with a unanimous decision win.

Bektemir Melikuziev stunned his Russian rival Georgiy Kushitashvili as he gained a gold medal at the Light Heavyweight.

Vladislav Muravin of Russia had to finish a bout against Bakhodir Jalolov after he abandoned fighting in the early minute of the second round at the Super Heavyweight final bout.

In addition, Uzbekistan’s Sanjar Tursunov, Ikboljon Kholdorov and Jasurbek Latipov finished their participation in the semi-finals and awarded bronze medals.
