Uzbekistan's judokas claim six medals in the IBSA World Judo Championships

The 15-men Uzbekistan Judo team took part in the IBSA World Judo Championships includes Sherzod Namozov and Utkirbek Nigmatov have taken Paralympic, Asian and Asian Para Games titles and several World Cup wins.

In the first day events, Uzbekistan's judokas were awarded one gold and three bronze medals before their compatriots earned one silver and one bronze medals in the second day.

In women’s 70kg weight class, Vasila Aliboeva defeated all her opponents from Italy, Russia and Mexico in the way to final contest against Brazilian judoka, but she lost the final and claimed a silver medal.

Shirin Sharipov finished the competition with a bronze medal after he eliminated Algerian and Russian rivals in Repechage.

The Championships in Odivelas from 16-18 November 2018 is one of the first events on the IBSA Judo calendar that goes towards qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
