
Women's Chess Championship” has started
The international chess tournament “Women's Chess Championship” with a total prize fund of 50 thousand dollars started in Samarkand.
150 strong female chess players from 13 countries are participating in the tournament.
At the opening ceremony, deputy chairman of the Uzbekistan Chess Federation Komil Sindorov and representatives of the Samarkand region khokimiyat noted that the competition is a preparation for the 46th World Chess Olympiad, which will be held in our country in 2026. It is also a great opportunity to improve skills and exchange experience.
The main contenders for victory are our high rated chess players Umida Omonova, Barchinoy Shokirjonova, Afruza Hamdamova, Marjona Malikova and Nodira Nodirjonova.
The tournament will consist of 9 rounds. Each participant will be given 90 minutes, starting with the first move, 30 seconds will be added to each move. It will not be possible to agree on a draw until 30 moves.
The tournament continues until March 19.
