Kumushkhon Fayzullaeva becomes the first world champion for Uzbekistan in women's division

Uzbekistan's athlete Kumushkhon Fayzullaeva became the first world champion for Uzbekistan in women's division as she delighted the home crowd by winning the women’s 63 kilograms title at the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Junior World Championships in Tashkent.

Despite being the youngest athlete in her category, the 16-year-old took the overall crown with an impressive 214kg at the Uzbekistan Sport Complex.

Fayzullaeva finished third in the snatch on 94kg, registering the same as first-placed Esraa Elsayed Rashed Elsayed Ahmed of Egypt and Ghofrane Belkhir of Tunisia with the ranking determined by the order in which the good lift was performed.

While the snatch results were close, the clean and jerk saw Fayzullaeva, the 2018 Asian youth and junior world champion, manage to lift an unrivalled 120kg - 7kg more than second-placed Ahmed and 8kg more than Belkhir.
