Samvel Babayan: I'm satisfied with the defense of Uzbekistan national team

Uzbekistan hosted Thailand in an international friendly match which took place at Bunyodkor Stadium this evening. Goals from Qatar Stars League players Temurkhuja Abdukholikov and Sardor Rashidov gave a 2-0 victory for Uzbekistan by providing extra motivation ahead of Asian Qualifiers match against Iran on June 12.

After this friendly match, head coach of Uzbekistan national team Samvel Babayan attended the press conference to talk to the media.

Today, we fielded new players in order to check their ability how to adopt in the national team. I’m satisfied with our defense that we didn’t concede any goals. I can say also warm words with our front line, but we are still missing chances to score goals.

There are no weak teams in the last round of Asian Qualifiers which means that Thailand national team is strong enough and they tried to show their best performance on the pitch this evening. Everybody knows that they lost their opportunity to qualify 2018 FIFA World Cup, but they will have a good future since their squad and coaching staff are quite good.

I think that it is so early to discuss Asian Qualifiers match against Iran. We should solve problems, especially we have to cover the positions of the injured players with new players. Also, some players haven’t played in their clubs for a month. We hope that they will recover their form in the trainings sessions before Iran clash, said Samvel Babayan.
