Chess. The Asian Cup started in Thailand
Bangkok, Thailand is hosting the 27th Asian Chess Championship for boys and girls aged 8–18. The event will take place from November 20 to 30 this year. A total of 700 players from 32 countries are participating, including 36 from Uzbekistan. The core team representing Uzbekistan’s honor at the championship consists of players who ranked second in the Uzbekistan Championship for 8–18-year-olds in the standard section held in January–February 2025.
The tournament features six age groups across twelve sections, with standard, rapid, and blitz formats. Standard and blitz consist of nine rounds each, while rapid has seven rounds. All groups operate under the Swiss system. Time controls are: standard 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment, rapid 15 minutes + 5 seconds, blitz 3 minutes + 2 seconds.
Participants who finish in first, second, or third place will also be directly awarded FIDE international titles, provided they meet the required rating criteria.
For reference, the 2024 championship was held in Kazakhstan, where Uzbek national team members won three medals. You can view the results at this link.
